Below you will find the privacy policy for AboMonitor.

The app

What data do we collect?

None. The subscriptions you enter, such as names, amounts, dates, participants and categories, are stored in the local storage of your own phone. That data is not sent to us and we have no access to it. You can choose to include the app in your own cloud backups to iCloud or Google Drive. You set that up on your phone yourself.

Do I need an account?

No. You do not have to register and you do not have to provide an email address or a password.

Is there a connection to my bank?

No. AboMonitor never asks for access to your bank account, payment details or transactions. You decide what you enter.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

Because everything is stored locally, your data disappears along with the app. Make a backup yourself if you want to keep it.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, they are scheduled on your device itself. No information about your subscriptions goes to a server in order to send a notification. Which subscriptions you have, what they cost and when they are charged all stay on your device.

To send push notifications on Android we do need an address for your device: a code your device receives from Google, which we use to wake your phone up so it can check whether any reminders are due. We store that code and the note that it concerns Android. Nothing else: no name, no email address, no account.

We keep that address only for as long as it is needed. If you switch notifications off, the app deregisters and we discard the code immediately. If you delete the app the code stops working; we notice that on the next daily round, and then it disappears anyway. This does not apply on iPhone and iPad. There the system schedules reminders far enough ahead and they are delivered reliably.

Payments

You buy AboMonitor Pro through Apple's App Store or through Google Play. That payment runs entirely through Apple and Google respectively; they process your payment details and we never see them. All we receive from them is anonymised sales statistics. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies apply to that processing.

Your rights

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, among other things. Because we do not store any personal data about you, there is in practice nothing to access or have deleted. If you have questions about this, email support@abomonitor.nl.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Changes

When this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
